Why your bill went up
It's not just your provider.
If your renewal offer felt like a bait and switch, you're not imagining it. Solar credits have fallen across Texas while the price to buy power has climbed, at every provider, not just yours.
The reason is structural. In 2019, solar made up 1% of Texas electricity. By 2025, it was 14%. At noon the grid is flooded with solar, so the power your panels send back is worth far less than the power you buy after sunset.

Each plan is priced against your real usage, with base fees, delivery charges, and solar credits included. You see your estimated monthly bill before you sign up.

Three plans. Your data picks the one that fits.
Terms of 12, 24, or 36 months. The solar credit you sign up with is the credit you keep for the whole contract. A Tesla or SolarEdge battery adds $2 per kWh in monthly battery credits to any solar plan. Switching between Meter plans is always free.
Standard
One fixed rate, no gimmicks
For homes without solar yet. A flat energy rate with no teaser pricing, bill-credit fine print, or usage tiers. When your solar goes live, you switch to Saver or Earner for free, with no fee and no new signup.

A battery is the real path back toward $0.
Your utility company charges delivery on every kWh you pull from the grid, and solar credits never cover base fees or delivery charges. That's why solar alone can't get most homes to a $0 bill anymore.
A battery stores your noon solar for the evening, so you buy less from the grid in the first place. On a Meter plan, a Tesla or SolarEdge battery also earns battery credits every month. Unlike solar credits, battery credits can offset base fees and delivery charges.

Why I started Meter.
I started Meter in 2025 after watching solar homeowners lose the returns they were promised. Buyback rates collapsed across Texas, bills crept back up, and nobody explained why.
The fix is not a clever plan. It is pricing my plans against your real meter data so you know what you will pay, locking the solar credit so it cannot change mid-contract, and using a battery to store power instead of selling it cheap at noon. That is what Meter does, and I read every email that comes in.
